How can I get involved?

In addition to getting involved at the executive level, there are a number of ways to help at the team level as.

Teams need coachs, managers and other helpers throughout the year. Team volunteers should use Hockey New Brunswick's Team Guide to help plan and manage their season. Potential volunteers can also consult this document learn of all the tasks teams need to accomplish.

Requirements for parents and volunteers

All coaches, managers, and volunteers require Respect in Sport (online course) or Speak Out!

All coaches, managers, and volunteers over the age of 18 require a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Any new minor hockey player will need to have one (1) parent complete the online Respect in Sport Parent Program. The link to this course can be found at https://tinyurl.com/d3uupt2m

Each team must have a Hockey Canada Safety Person. The link to the online HCSP course can be accessed at https://register.hockeycanada.ca/clinics

All volunteers under the age of 16, as of December 31st, 2022, who are currently registered on a minor hockey or high school hockey team do not require any coach certifications. These volunteers must wear a helmet with full face shield when volunteering with minor hockey teams.

Coaching requirements

Coaches are essential to hockey at every level. A caring, enthusiastic, well-trained coach can be a positive influence on the experience of players, parents and other coaches.”

BMHA works with Hockey New Brunswick to provide effective education, certification, and registration for hundreds of hockey coaches annually.

Anyone interested in coaching, either parents or non-parents, can inquire with our technical director, president or other executive member.

Coach certification deadline is : December 15^th, 2023

The first step in becoming a coach is getting your Hockey Canada Registry profile (coaching profile) set up. To do this, follow the Spordle link (https://hnb.ca/en/clinics/spordle-my-account ) to create an account, link yourself as a member and begin signing up for the courses required by the level you are coaching.

Inquire with your BMHA technical director or other executive members in regards to upcoming clinics and potential reimbursement of clinic costs.
